On a dime.

“How wonderful to meet such a natural little girl.
She knows what she wants and she asks for it.
Not like these over-civilized little pets
that have to go through analysis
before they can choose an ice cream soda.”
– John Lee Mahin

Then ended up with this.

*****
We spent this weekend running errands.
While running those errands–
I “may” have wandered into several children’s clothing boutiques.
I also “may” have wanted to spend 5,000 dollars that I didn’t have.

Today I made it up in my mind to create Pix some outfits and prove that:

It really doesn’t take a fortune to clothe a child.
Just a bit of fortitude.
(and buttons)

Ffffound.

Via a tweet from the beautifully authentic Heather.

Because to me Art is Faith.
Is my Insignificant Significance.

With everything I am–I long to be an inspiration.
Like a great big arrow pointing UP.

O! The things we can,
and should,
be.

Look, do you see?
oh! the wishes,
the hopes, the prayers.

I have this jar.
It is simple, unassuming, and oh so very humble.

Its contents are not glorious….and do not at first catch your eye.

But then you hear stories,
and perhaps you look closer.

“These deep purple bits scattered around behind the glass,
are from the first bouquet of wild flowers he ever brought me”

“Somewhere in there are the petals from the red tulips
he had the florist sendon the day AFTER  our first Valentines day”

Yellow roses from our engagement.

The palest peach rosebuds and lilies of the valley
from my wedding bouquet.

White roses given as congratulations when I got a new job working for an airline.

A sprig of leaves he grabbed from an obliging bush outside our first home.

Sunflower petals from the birth of our firstborn son.

Pink roses from the birth of our second son.

Tulips from our third son.

And peonies from our little daughter.

Bits from my first Mothers Day–
a walk down the road that needed to be remembered
–and from the first cherry blossoms on our little tree.
Every one from him.
My love.

I don’t put in the whole flower,
but handful of petals.

They shrink with age,
but do not diminish.
And I remember.

After reading a post here at Petit Elefant,
I thought I’d share what I do with my dried blossoms:)
