what should REALLY
go in my suitcase.

THIS.

**************************************

I suppose its just the physical miles,
and the actual Boeing 757 that are involved.
Because its really starting to seem
like I’m going away for a month rather than 5 days.

I took a nap with all of my littles today
—snuggled up in the big big bed
(which isn’t big at all,
but rather a Double bed we pretend is a King)

I held two little hands in mine,
and attempted to avoid the kicks of gangly boy legs
that kept running like puppies do
when they have dreams that they’re chasing rabbits.

I felt the missing wash over me already like a wave.

***

Their Daddy-man made lentil soup for lunch,
and took us out for smoothies afterwards.

I realize any guy that has the fortitude to make lentil soup
(veggies, CHECK)
and then soften the blow with strawberry banana smoothies
(happiness, CHECK)
will do more than hold the fort down while I am gone.

He’ll actually probably make one ;)

Countdown——- 4 days till flight day.
(What can I bring in my carry-on again?)

  • That is sooo sweet…I’d say he can definitely hold down the fort (and make one ;) I know it’s so hard to say goodbye to the wee ones, even for just a day or so…but the time will fly by and you’ll be back home before you know it (and the break will be a blessing in disguise).

    Jamie :)
p.s. don’t attempt to take knitting needles on the plane (I speak from experience, tee hee)

HA HA HA HA…I didn’t even think about that :P

    I am such a homebody–I haven’t flown in AGES.
    Like since I was 16!

So thank you, thank you MUCHO for the advice.

I shall definitely not attempt to knit in flight :P

  • I know. I miss them already too. We shall hug our way through the missing and go have an adventure. Want to make memories with me in NYC? I’ll even let you sit awkwardly close.

    ARIL.

A: you are following way to closely in my stay up too late footsteps.

    B. There was not nearly enough Skype-y love today–my bad.

    C. I am prone to sitting awkwardly close whether you let me or not :P

    D. I am playing the “chariots of fire” theme in my head when I run slow mo through the airport to squish you.

  • Oh the beautiful baby love. Yes, it fits quite nicely in carry on hearts, I have found.
